

Justin Dwayne Nix, 33, of Lecanto, FL, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023. A native of Winter Haven, FL, he was born March 8, 1990 and had lived in Citrus County for 19 years. Justin was a restaurant cook by profession and pursued his passion for cooking at a number of local restaurants in this area, including Seagrass Restaurant, Citrus Hills Country Club, Florida Cracker Kitchen and Fish Tales. Mr. Nix was also a window installer for Tropical Windows. Justin was of the Baptist faith and his perfect day would include sitting at the beach, listening to the waves and ending the day with stargazing, as Justin loved astronomy and anything relating to outer space. He loved book clubs, taking long drives while listening to his favorite songs, attending concerts, playing video games, listening to music, watching comedy TV shows and movies, watching The Discovery Channel, spending time with family, cooking, fishing, motorcycles and football. Justin also loved cleaning his car, as that was his “baby”. Mr. Nix was preceded in death by his oldest brother Jeffrey Nix; grandmother Sharon Fightmaster; grandfathers George Nix and Gary Fightmaster; great grandmother Merlene Reed and great uncle Jim Reed. He is survived by his mother, Julie A. Nix, Lecanto, FL; stepfather James Conley, also of Lecanto, FL; his children Justin Nix of Lecanto Fl; Hailey Clark of Murry, KY and Aster Nix of Homsassa, FL; grandmother Karen Conley of Homosassa, FL; siblings big brother Joshua Nix and his spouse Johna Nix of Crystal River FL and little brother Jesse Rotton of Ocala, FL; aunt Teresa Selph of Lecanto, FL; great aunt Margaret Head, TX; great uncle Kenneth Whiteman of Lecanto, FL; uncle Van McCrory of Titusville, FL and uncles Kevin and Jonathan Ruane, both of Homosassa, FL; nephew Joshua Nix of Crystal River, FL; cousins Ryan Johnson of Inverness, FL; Steve Johnson of Lecanto, FL; Tia Johnson of Pennsylvania; Douglas Head, Danielle Singletary and Dena McNiel, all of Texas; and seconds cousins Taylor Johnson, Alayna Johnson, Alexis Johnson, Nevaeh Johnson, Sharon Johnson, Lilly Johnson and Joel McNaughton.
