Kirk Douglas Gerwin 71, of Homosassa, Fl was called by God to come home. He passed away at Oak Hill Hospital, Brooksville, FL. He was annointed by Chaplain Father Mike on January 29th 2023 after a lengthy stay. Kirk was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 27th, 1951 to Jack & Virginia Gerwin. He was the middle child of seven. Kirk married his wife Kathleen on April 17th 1971 and they started their family of five children. Kirk retired from General Motors Delphi Chassis Plant in Saginaw, MI. Kirk put in over 28 years of service, trying several different positions but due to his diabetes he retired as a set up man which he enjoyed very much. They moved their family to Midland, Mi in 1989, where they stayed for over 30 years. On July 31st 2020 made their final move to Homosassa, Fl. Kirk loved the sunshine and especially the 80 degree weather because he was always cold. Kirk wanted his family to be raised all in one faith and so decided to be confirmed at St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church in Saginaw. In 1972 after the birth of his first child. Then moving to Midland joined St Brigid’s Church. Kirk had many interests but loved riding his Harley Sportster, and his precious 1971 Corvette. He listened to his Jukebox which he was always wanting, then moved into his daily routine of playing his pinball machine. He loved searching on his computer for things he always wanted. He and his wife loved doing projects together whether, it was building playhouses for his children, refinishing furniture or remodeling homes. And most of all he enjoyed spending time camping with his children and grand children, helping them with their projects and helping friends. Kirk was the jack of all trades which he learned while working along side of his father in law, he also enjoyed going to Busch Gardens to get free buds with his father in law. He graduated in 1969 from Arthur Hill High School, was a Loyal Member of the Moose 82 in Saginaw. Kirk was predeceased by both his parents, In laws, brother Jack and precious grand son Michael James Wolfe. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Gerwin of over 51 years and his children; Heather Marie Nowaczewski, Andrea Dee & Bob Graham all of Midland, MI. Kirk Edward & Elena Grace Gerwin, his favorite daughter in law as he would say(and only one.) son two >Adam Jonathan Gerwin all of Homosassa, FL and youngest daughter Brandi Nicole Brown of Midland, MI. His grand children; Justin Michael Hannah’s, first grand son and Faith Leigh Brown his first grand daughter,Layne Douglas and Kenzie Marie Carstensen, and his two great grand children Kaida and Lilith all of Midland. Brothers and sisters; Echo & Dave Kabobel, Allen Gerwin, Wendy & Ralph Zeitler, Paul & Lori Gerwin and Erica Russell, and many nieces and nephews all of Saginaw, MI. Memorial service officiated by Rev. Father Mikhail Kouts at St Andrew’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 8064 Weeping Willow St. Brooksville, FL at 2:00pm Tuesday Feb 7th.
