Lila Mae Greene, 87, of Fruitland Park, FL and formerly of the Homosassa/Crystal River area in Citrus County, FL, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Vitas Hospice on Mt. Dora, FL. A native of Uvalda, GA, she was born October 10, 1932 to D.M. and Eva (Roberts) Simpson, one of five children. Lila moved to Brevard County, FL in 1958 from Augusta, GA and lived there for 12 years. Then Lila resided in Marion County, FL for ten years before moving to Citrus County in 1980, where she began an 18 year maintenance career with Citrus County Board of County Commissioners, retiring in 2003. Then in 2011, Lila moved to Fruitland Park, FL in Lake County until her passing. She enjoyed reading, antique shopping, gardening, and crocheting. She would crochet blankets, bookmarks, booties, scarves, and potholders for everyone. But by far her most creative work was her decorative crocheted hats that were wall hangings. She decorated them with lace, antique jewelry and hankies, and both dried and silk flowers. Each one was different. She actually sold them at arts and craft shows for several years in various towns in the area. Lila's perfect day would often involve shopping and then having lunch at the Captain's Table in Cedar Key, FL and then sitting out dockside watching the sun set over the Gulf. In addition to her parents, Lila was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Mae Smith of Ocala, FL and three siblings: Ila Ree Treadwell of Montevallo, AL; Betty Maureen Meeks-Kite of GA and Naomi Stevens of Clanton, AL. She is survived by three children: Linda Gail Kennedy Henderson, Augusta, GA; Delores Kennedy Garland (spouse Peter George), Augusta, GA.; Judith Lee Fowler (spouse Denis David) Ft.
