John Peck

January 26, 2012

Dear Aberle Family:

This is John Peck. You may remember me in your days in Huntington WV as 'Ned'. Mark and I were good friends as kids and we were your next door neighbors along Hawthorne Way near Ritter Park in Huntington. My father was Dr. Frank Peck, a surgeon at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington. You may also remember my mom, Betty, and my brother Frank, and sisters Jacqueline and Jennifer.

I'm so sorry to learn of Mr. Aberle's death. I just happened to be reading a story about Joe Namath online today , started remembering our fun days in Huntington, and I decided to do an online search to see if Mark or any of the Aberles were still around anywhere. What a sad surprise to learn of his passing just days ago.

I remembered the days in the mid-'60's that Mark and I used to pass the football in the back yard with Mr. Aberle. And exploring that giant house on the hill in Huntington. He was so fun to be around, and I credit him with helping me learn to pass the football, just like Joe. Mark and I used to talk about his days at the University of Alabama. Do I remember correctly that he played football there? I also remembered that Dr. Aberle was a professor at Marshall University.

Please extend my deepest sympathies to your family on behalf of me and our family. And please feel free to drop me a line at if you would like to get in touch. I am also online on Facebook under John Peck. I live in New York City now, and I am involved in local ministry here and overseas in SE Asia as well.

My prayers rest on you and your family.
