Marcelle led an amazing life, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew her. She was a true powerhouse, despite her small stature. Born to Lucien and Irene Fournier, Marcelle emigrated to New York, where she met and married her husband of 61 years, Donald Haponski. Together, they shared countless wonderful and crazy adventures, from horseback riding and bailing hay to homesteading houses in both New York and Florida. Marcelle's love for her family and her dedication to their well-being were unparalleled. She was a loving mother to her only son, Wade; a cherished grandmother to James; and step grandmom to Courtney, Corey, and Jeremy. Marcelle's daughter-in-law, Leah, also held a special place in her heart. She was adored by her sons' friends, who considered her a second mother. Marcelle's close friends knew her as a fiercely dedicated person who always put others before herself. Marcelle's love for her adopted country, the United States, was evident in her decision to become a naturalized citizen. She was proud of her French Canadian and Native American Mohawk heritage; often joking about her love for French Canadian breakfast of Pepsi and May West snack cakes. Marcelle's faith was an essential part of her life, and she was a dedicated follower of Christ. She will be dearly remembered by her friends and church family.
Marcelle is survived by her loving husband, Donald, who stood by her side for over six decades. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. Marcelle was also a sister to six siblings and survived by Diane (sister), Sylvie (sister), and Jaques (brother). As a cherished grandmother, aunt, and great aunt to many more, she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A ceremony to honor Marcelle's life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Homosassa, FL on Saturday Jan 20, 2024 at 11:00 A.M.
