Mary Ann T. Wichert, 82, of Homosassa Springs, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 19, 2023. Mary Ann was a Christmas present, born on December 25, 1940 to John and Helen Sterna in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from Lourds High School in 1958, she met Robert Wichert and they wed in 1959. She and Robert went on to have two children, Gregory and Glenn. After becoming a mother, Mary Ann dedicated her life to taking care of her family, and was known for making the best homemade meals from scratch with lots of TLC! Mary Ann was a faithful woman who loved the Lord and her family. She was a “tiny but mighty” woman with a zest for life and a passion for the outdoors - you could always find her working in her yard! She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching sports, and going on many adventures including Florida springs and beach trips, amusement parks, boating, parasailing, and achieving her lifelong dream of seeing her favorite NASCAR driver, Chase Elliott (“Go #9!”), race at the NASCAR 2022 Richmond Cup Race! She traveled to Virginia for the holidays and her grandchildren's milestone events to include graduations, her granddaughter‘s wedding and the surprise reveal that she was soon to be a great-grandmother! Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wichert, daughter-in-law, Cynthia Wichert, and grandson, Brandon Wichert. She is survived by her sons, Gregory and Glenn Wichert, and granddaughter and son-in-law, Kaylee and Nicholas Zagrocki. Mary Ann made a lasting impression on everyone she met and will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. She will be greatly missed. The family requests that all flowers and cards are sent to Wilder Funeral Home in Homosassa, Florida. There will be a funeral service on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 2:00PM at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, FL. www.wilderfuneral.com
