Mary “Meg” McMullen was born to the late Vallie Mae and Fred McMullen in Clearwater, FL on November 27, 1951 and passed away in Yankeetown, FL on November 15, 2013 at her home in Yankeetown, FL. Meg graduated from Clearwater High School c/o 1969 and received her BA from UF as a medical social worker, as well as her MA from USF in Gerontology. She was well-loved by her patients and coworkers alike, and was often touted as the “best in the business.” Meg loved the outdoors with a passion and could most often be seen driving her tractor while caring for her beautiful 6 acres in Yankeetown, fishing on the Withlacoochee River or the Gulf waters, horseback riding, and spending time with friends and family. Meg is survived by her partner of 25 years, Adair Duke of Fort Valley, GA. She also is survived by her sister Bethel Wilson, niece Amanda Barclay and niece Megan Shifflett. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to The Hospice of Citrus County in Meg’s name. Memorials will be held in Byron, GA with her extended family on November 27, as well as at Ike’s Old Florida Kitchen (previously Isaac Walton’s Lodge) in Yankeetown, FL December 14th at 2pm. Being the resilient force of nature that she was, even after being admitted to Hospice care, Meg continued to utter her most famously heard words… “I love you more” to all that love her dearly.
