

Mary Parsons, 86, of Homosassa and Crystal River, FL, and formerly of Ellijay, GA, passed away on June 30, 2015 after an extended illness. She was born August 2, 1928 to the late Sam and Mary (Gadus) Heffner of Perryville, MD. She helped run the family business (Sam’s Marina) in Perryville, MD until meeting the love of her life, Fred Parsons. After marrying they ran Sarah Contractors in Baltimore, MD for 9 years before relocating to Homosassa, FL, where they started Fred Parsons Fill Dirt business, which was instrumental in creating the Riverhaven Development. They also ran the Chicken Farm Motocross Track in Homosassa. After selling their businesses, they divided their time between their farm in Ellijay, GA and their home in Crystal River, FL until her husband’s passing in 2014. After his passing, she moved to Homosassa to be with her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Sue Guido. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Fred; her parents; brothers Bill and Gary and her sister Nancy. Mary is survived by her son Ron Guido (Sue) of Homosassa; her granddaughter Jessica (Laurene), great grandkids Grayson, Alina, Allison and Zack, all of Delaware; her sister Betty of Pennsylvania and brother John (Sylvia) of Maryland; stepsons Fred (Cindy) and Kevin of Maryland, and their wonderful children and grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law, Alvenia(Garnet) of Delaware. A special “thank you” to all the wonderful nurses and aides at Cypress Cove Care Center for their love and caring attention during Mary’s stay with them. Friends will be received from 1:30 to 3:30 P.M. on Friday, July 10, 2015 at Wilder Funeral Home. Interment prayers will follow at Stage Stand Cemetery, Homosassa Springs, at 3:45 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or a charity of one’s preference.
