Mary E. “Eleanor” Phillips, 91, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018 at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast Hospice House in Lecanto, FL. A native of Charleston, Illinois, she was born Sept. 29, 1926 to George and Margaret (Tinsman) Easton, one of five children. Eleanor, as she was known to many, was the retired Secretary to the President of DT & I Railroad, now known as Grand Truck Railroad. She moved to Homosassa in 1988 from Allen Park, MI, one year after retirement, and was a longtime faithful and devoted member of Faith Baptist Church of Homosassa, FL where she participated in many activities involving her church over the years, including singing in the choir. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Eugene Phillips in 2009 and two sons-in-law; Richard Schmid and Dennis Nemeth, as well as her three sisters and one brother. Mrs. Phillips is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Schmid and Valerie Nemeth, both of Florida, and stepdaughter Leslie Phillips Watts (husband Steve) of Pennsylvania; grandchildren Brittany, Chris, Jeff, Brad, Michele, Kelly, Alex and Ben and great grandchildren Cameron, Konner, Brooke and Savannah. A celebration of Eleanor’s will be held at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, Florida on Wed., Sept. 26, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. with inurnment following at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida at 12:30 P.M. www.wilderfuneral.com
