Meryl Florence Long

Meryl Florence Long, 94, of Bristol, FL, passed away on Thurs., May 14, 2026 at her home. A native of Summit, NJ, she was born Sept. 22, 1931 to William and Vernita (McGuiness) Brown. A lifelong homemaker, she loved ceramics, crafting, cooking and baking. Earlier in life, Meryl also loved riding motorcycles with her husband Bob. Meryl was preceded in death by husband, Bob Long; daughter Vernita J. Baker and sons Randy Scott Long and Robert “Jamie” Long, and a niece Diane. She is survived by her children Bonnie Jones (husband Will), Theodore, AL; son Robert Schoonover “Robbie” Long, Jr., Bristol, FL; stepson Jody (wife Sandy), Social Circle, GA; stepdaughter Michelle “Shelly” Long; grandchildren Edward S. Prenchak (wife Maria), Heather Burley (husband Eddy) and Tiffany Balliet (Nate Carter), all of Homosassa; Steven Tyler Long, California and Aleesha Long, New Jersey; Kenny, of Georgia; David, Christina, A.J. and Allen, all of New Jersey; Joan, Elizabeth and Jessica; Brigetta Goodwin Hanson (husband Michael), New Jersey; Donovan and Michelle Goodwin, Salem, CT and Robert James Long, Jr., also known as "J.J.", of New Jersey; great grandchildren Tyler Prenchak, Ryan Lee and Elayna and Jacob Burley; Tommy and Kevin Crowe and Hunter Corter; Zulay and Alura; Donovan, Jannee, Ezra, Eila and Easton; Bryanna Swaney, Lucas and Jacob and Nicholas Goodwin; Joseph and Jackson Hanson; sisters Gail Luizza, New Jersey and Verna Foster, North Carolina; nephew Rodney and nieces Debbie Siller, North Carolina and Cindy Regan, Florida. Meryl is also survived by close extended family Lucy (Valentin) and Harry Evans and their daughter Jamie Rodriguez, as well as friends Julie and Naomi Croisetu. A Celebration of Life at Macrini-Wilder Funeral Home in Homosassa, Florida will be announced for a future date.
