

Richard P. “Dick” Meigs, 81, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Tues., Sept. 6, 2022. A native of Fox Chapel, PA, he was born Aug. 1, 1941 to George and Barbara (Renwick) Meigs, one of two children. Dick, as he was known to many, was a retired construction engineer who specialized in power plant construction. He moved to Hudson, FL in 1973 from South Holland, IL and then to Citrus County in 1979. Upon his retirement from power plant construction, Mr. Meigs began his own residential painting business, Sundance Painting, which he owned and operated in Citrus County for 15 years. Dick was a devoted husband and loving father and his passions in life were golfing, boating, woodworking, and his daily crossword puzzles. He was a brown belt in karate, enjoyed video poker, and was an avid gun collector. He was also a longtime Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tampa Bay Rays fan and recorded many of their games so that he could watch them at his leisure. In addition to his parents, Mr. Meigs was preceded in death by his sister, Marlin Chiodi. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Paulette Ann Meigs of Homosassa; son Michael Meigs (wife Barbara) of Oldsmar, FL; daughter Kelly Adkins (husband Hartley) of Tampa, FL; daughter Danielle Balbis (husband Robert) of Gainesville, FL; grandchildren Kevin, Marissa, Michaela, Blake, Camryn, Jack, Sam, Katie and Robbie and great grandchildren Lucy, Nate and Elodie. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Mon., Sept. 12, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. from St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church with Fr. J. Glenn Diaz, Celebrant. Interment will be private.
