Born on March 25, 1938, in Kingston, New York, Bob was the son of Louis and Hazel Maines. From an early age, he developed a deep love for sports and the outdoors—passions that would remain central throughout his life.
Bob's athletic talent led him to play for the Chicago Cubs' farm team, a testament to his dedication and skill in baseball. His love for the game never waned and remained one of his lifelong interests. He was inducted into the Kingston Baseball Hall of Fame.
Following his time in baseball, Bob served honorably in the United States Coast Guard as a FA (E-2). After completing his military service, he began a long and successful career with IBM. He started at IBM’s Kingston location before transferring to Raleigh, North Carolina. He eventually retired from IBM in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1991 after years of dedicated service.
Bob found joy not only in his professional accomplishments but also in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman and boater who loved spending time on the water. NASCAR races were another favorite pastime—he followed them with enthusiasm and passion. Whether it was traveling or enjoying a quiet day outdoors, Bob embraced life fully.
He is survived by his beloved wife Tina (Badalamenti) Maines;
his sister Marie Fox; and his extended family including brothers- and sisters-in-law Jim and Debra Badalamenti; Renie (Badalamenti) and Steve Graham; Joe and Tammy Badalamenti.
Bob was a loving uncle to Lisa (Anne) Badalamenti, Laura (Zum) Zanders, Erica (Chris) Tillman, Tina (Ben) Watts and Joe (Deanna) Badalamenti,
He also held a special place in his heart for his great-nieces and nephews: Izzy, Geo, Henry and Jake.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Hazel Maines.
His legacy lives on through the memories shared by those who knew him—as a devoted husband, cherished family member, loyal friend, and man who lived life with purpose and joy.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
