Rosemary (Mim) Brockett passed away peacefully on January 14, 2022, at the age of 90. Mim was born February 15, 1931 in East Orange, New Jersey. She graduated from Charles E. Gorton High School in 1948, then studied at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and went on to earn her RN degree from St Johns Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, New York.
Mim loved tennis and golf. While living in Suffield, CT she served as president of the Garden Club as well as president of the Emergency Aid Association, was a member of the Suffield Woman’s Club and volunteered at the Hathaway Historical House. After moving to Homosassa, FL in 1993, she became very active in the Homosassa River Garden Club, and was instrumental in getting the Blue Star Memorial Marker at the Stage Stand Cemetery. She was a member of Sugarmill Woods Country Club and of Southern Woods Country Club where she enjoyed a love-hate relationship with golf for many years.
Mim was preceded in death by Dr. Fred (Ted) J. Brockett, Jr., whom she married after being widowed from Frank Firor, Jr. She leaves behind daughter Janice (Brockett) Williams; son Frank Firor III and his wife Cecilia Firor; daughter Virginia (Firor) Keilty and husband Richard Keilty, Jr.; grandchildren Nathan Williams, Luke Williams and wife Angel Williams, Tyler Williams, Amelia Firor and husband Alex Jares, Stephanie Firor, Richard Keilty III and wife Steffanie Keilty, Colleen Keilty and Curtis Keilty; as well as four great grandchildren, Owen Williams, Liam Williams, Richard Keilty IV and Conrad Keilty.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Wilder Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 29, 2022 4890 South Suncoast Boulevard, Homosassa, FL 34446.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Mim’s name to the Homosassa River Garden Club, PO Box 4293, Homosassa, FL 34447.
