Roy C. Hoskins, 87, of Homosassa, passed away on Tues., April 22, 2014 at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center. A native of Calvin, KY, he was born May 18, 1926 to George W. and Maude B. (Davis) Hoskins. Roy was a retired member of management in Ford Motor Company’s Steel Division in Dearborn, MI and moved to Homosassa 26 years ago from Hilton Head Island, SC. Mr. Hoskins was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Crystal River, the B.P.O.E Elks Lodge # 2693, Homosassa, and the Citrus County Jazz Society. Roy was an accomplished, self-taught guitarist since the age of ten and served his country in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1951. He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, Carolyn J. Hoskins, Homosassa; his five children: Roy F. “Fred” Hoskins (Becky), Nashville, TN; Cheryl Reiber, Brownstown, MI; Pamela Collier (Danny), Roscommon, MI; Peggy Hoskins and Marsha Gallagher (Daniel), both of Wyandotte, MI; sisters Ruth Walker and Bonnie Gibbs (Richard), both of Wyandotte, MI; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Mr. Hoskins was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Hoskins (April 1989); a grandson, Brett, as well as siblings Nellie, Norma, Lillian, Georgia, Earl, Curtis and Glenn. A memorial service will be held on Sat., April 26, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. from the First Presbyterian Church of Crystal River, with Rev. Jack Alwood officiating and the U.S. Navy rendering honors.
