Shirley J. Armstrong, 71, of Homosassa, Florida, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Vitas Healthcare in Lecanto, Florida. A native of Auburn, New York, she was born April 2, 1947 to John and Florence (Cuykendall) Mizro, one of three children. Shirley was a retired registered nurse specializing in home health care and was a member of the American Legion Post #155 Auxillary, Crystal River, Florida and also held the office of Drapeau in the Forty & Eight, an organization that consists of members of all the United States Armed Forces. Shirley moved here 18 years ago from her native Auburn, New York and loved reading, camping, fishing, and spending time with her friends from the American Legion and the Forty & Eight. She was a faithful and devoted parishioner of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Crystal River, Florida and in addition to her parents, was preceded in death by her former husband, Anthony Bianco, Sr. and her brother Donald Mizro. Shirley is survived by her beloved husband of 19 years, Wayne J. Armstrong, Jr. of Homosassa; daughter Tina Poppe (husband Steve), Cicero, New York; daughter Sandra Hill, Watertown, New York; brother David Mizro (wife Mary), Auburn, New York; grandchildren Allysa Hill, Virginia; Nathan Hill, New York and Seth Hill, New York and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. from St. Benedict Catholic Church of Crystal River with Fr. Richard Stradomski, Celebrant.
