Susan Marie Vrioni, 77, of Homosassa, Florida, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at The Grove Health and Rehab Center in Hernando, Florida. A native of Chicago, Illinois, she was born July 7, 1943 to Joseph and Helen (Justice) Greggo, one of two children. Susan was a dedicated and devoted lifelong homemaker, but also worked in a number of delicatessens during her life, including Dominick’s Grocery in Chicago. She moved here 21 years ago from McHenry, Illinois. Before moving to Florida, she was involved in local politics and served as an election judge for many years. At one point she was recognized in a local newspaper for her consistent volunteerism and dedication to the community. She also enjoyed cooking, hosting parties and gardening. She and Bob Mikols, the love of her life for the past 30 years, were avid recreational boaters in the Illinois summers and they enjoyed taking friends and family out for all-day weekend rides. After moving to Sugarmill Woods Susan became an active member of the Garden Club and made many friends. She and Bob enjoyed travel, especially Caribbean cruises and trips to Colorado. She adored all of her grandchildren and cherished their visits which always included lots of swimming at her home, good food, plenty of ice cream & toppings and a visit to the Homossassa Springs Wildlife Park. Susan loved her dogs and had many over the years, big and small. She also made the most incredible chocolate chip cookies, and if that weren’t enough, she would use them to make big and gooey ice cream sandwiches that were a family favorite. A perfect day for Susan would be spent with her grandkids or exploring Breckinridge with Bob. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Greggo, in 2016. Susan is survived by her “everything” for 30 years, Robert Mikols of Homosassa; son David Vrioni (wife Margaret) of Lake Bluff, Illinois; daughter Deidra Sachs (husband Donald) of Lakeland, Florida and her seven beloved grandchildren Anna, Mikayla, Jessica, Lauren, Ryan, Julian and Isabella. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Susan’s life on Wed., April 14, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, Florida. www.wilderfuneral.com
