

Thomas Joseph Honan, 88, Homosassa, Florida, died peacefully November 22nd surrounded by his family at HPH Hospice House of Lecanto. Thomas was born July 9, 1924 in Buffalo, NY to the late Michael Honan and Mary Ellen (MacDonald) Honan. He was one of nine children and is survived by his sisters, Mary Honan Harris, Margaret (Peggy) Honan Collins. Thomas was a WWII Veteran who served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp.
Thomas was employed by the U.S. government for 30 years as a special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Upon his retirement Thomas and his wife moved to Florida. At that time he was employed as an investigator for The State of Florida Insurance Fraud Division for 5 years.
Thomas loved being with family and friends, enjoyed golf and tennis, and watching sports. He also served as a Eucharistic minister for 25 years with his church, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 63 years, Margaret Joan (Eagling) Honan, his 5 children and spouses: Mary Ellen (Honan) McNeil and Brian McNeil, Thomas Jr. and JoAnn Honan, Carol (Honan) Light and Ralph Parziale, Jean (Honan) and Michael Ventura and Michael and Eleanor Honan; his 14 grandchildren, Michael, Jaclyn, Erica, Eric, Ben, Mark, Lori, Elizabeth, Kristin, Thomas, Jenelle, Michael, John, Kevin and 3 great grandchildren: Ryan, Kayla, and Lyla. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to HPH Hospice 3545 N. Lecanto Hwy. Beverly Hills, FL 34465 in memory of Mr. Honan. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 5 PM at Wilder Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
