Paul W. “Wayne” Duncan, 75, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Sat., Oct. 19, 2013 at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness, FL. A native of Lakes Wales, FL, Mr. Duncan was born at home Feb. 1, 1938, one of four children. That same day his future wife, Frances Marie Duncan, was also born in Lake Wales, at her parents’ home. Wayne and Frances were both delivered by the same physician that day. Mr. Duncan moved to Citrus County in 1978 from Orlando and enjoyed a long career of over 30 years with Publix Supermarkets and he retired from the Spring Hill location as market manager. Wayne, as he was known to many, was also a local fishing guide with Gulf Coast Charters and the Homosassa Guide Association. Mr. Duncan especially loved to fish for dolphin, was also an avid hunter, and loved Georgia pecans. He was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by four children: daughter Gerri D. Paquette-Byers, Jacksonville, FL; daughter Sherri D. Brown (husband Mark), Tallahassee, FL; daughter Kerri F. Duncan, Homosassa, FL; son Corky Duncan, Clermont, FL; three sisters: Dianne Duncan, Sue Corley and Linda Morgan, all of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren Christina, Niki, Jacki, Samantha, Bryce, Bret, Cole, Austin, Colton, Jacob, Justin and Kathryn and great grandchildren Ashton, Dylan, Bryce, Chase, Bradyn, Cadence, Jordyn, Harper Lee, Rebecca and Alyssa. Mr. Duncan was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Frances Marie Duncan, on April 18, 1993. A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24th at 2:00 P.M. at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, with entombment to follow at Fountains Memorial Park, Homosassa. Friends will be received from 1:00 P.M. until service time. Flowers may be sent to Wilder Funeral Home or in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mr. Duncan’s name to Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation For Brain Cancer Research.
