

Wilbur B. “Bill” Pierson III, 88, of Homosassa, FL and Crescent Beach, Niantic, CT, passed away on Mon., June 1, 2026 at the Sturgill Hospice House in Brooksville, FL. Bill, as he was known by many, was born in Hartford, CT on Nov. 1, 1937 to Wilbur B. Pierson, Jr. and Louise E. (Wormeck) Pierson.
Bill married Janet Louise (James) Pierson on May 4, 1963, and moved to Rocky Hill, CT, where they raised their two sons. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves until honorably discharged in 1964. He was a founding and Charter Member of the Rocky Hill Volunteer Ambulance Association, starting in 1973 and served for 15 years. Bill was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 34 years before retiring in 1998.
After moving to Homosassa in 2000, Bill enjoyed his volunteer work with Manatee Watch, Habitat for Humanity, Sugarmill Crime Watch, and the We Care Food Pantry. He was a member of the Sugarmill Woods Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife Jan of 60 years, Bill was preceded in death by his sister, Phillis L (Pierson) Macaulay of NY. He is survived by son Christian Pierson and his wife Debra-Lynn (Gilman) Pierson and their children Hannah and Julia of Bowie, MD; son Wayne Pierson and his children Gabrielle and Matthew of Newington CT.
Inurnment at the Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill, CT will take place at a later date.
