William Richard Brewer, 77, of Homosassa, FL passed away on Feb. 22, 2018. Born March 12, 1940 in Boston, MA, he was the only child of the late William and Marie Brewer. Bill attended Boston Trade School as an aspiring aeronautical engineer. He used his love for science and math to become a research photographic scientist for Polaroid. He spent 23 years with Polaroid before becoming a home builder. His desire to help those in need and use his talents in photography manifested by way of volunteering to teach photography with Project Turnabout in Hingham, MA. Bill and his wife, Elaine Brewer, moved to Homosassa, FL in 2004 from Brewster, MA. His innate love for nature and Scout Master experience guided him to volunteer for the US Fish and Wildlife Service and Wildlife Park. Bill’s passions also included motorcycles, trucks, boats, travel and camping. He is described as a caring yet private family man who was accident prone and always had a good “dad joke.” Survivors include his beloved wife of 22 years, Elaine; son, William Jr.; daughter, Robin; grandchildren, Shea, Conor, Jillian, Nicole; and two great-grandchildren, Mercy and Mena. As Bill’s final contribution to science, he has dedicated his body to Shands in efforts to further medical research. Memorial Contributions may be made in Bill’s honor to The Path of Citrus County.
