William Henry "Bill" Kemp

William Henry “Bill” Kemp, 88, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at home. A native of Newark, NJ, and raised in Union, NJ, he was born December 11, 1937 to John and Margaret (Klump) Kemp. Bill, as he was known to many, served his country proudly and honorably as a United States Coast Guard sailor from 1956 to 1960. Mr. Kemp’s professional work life held multiple facets. He served in Building Maintenance for John Wiley and Sons for many years and also was employed by Acme Foods, a subsidiary of IGA Food Stores, both in New Jersey. Bill moved to Homosassa in 1989 from Middlesex, NJ and was a past faithful member of Grace Bible Church in Homosassa. Mr. Kemp’s loved boating, fishing, and enjoying campfires on Friday and Saturday nights at his son Don’s home. He also enjoyed his earlier days taking part in the Boy Scouts with his son. Bill also enjoyed painting crafts and assembling model boats. His perfect day would be when all of his sons were fishing with him on a sunny day and riding out the biggest waves he could find. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jane Kemp on Dec. 22, 2005; his grandson Donnie Kemp on March 12, 2020, and a brother, Robert “Bobby” Kemp. Bill is survived by his six children: Bill Kemp (wife Patty) of Florida; Lucy Bodziak (husband Walter) of New Jersey; Nancy Kemp of Florida; Kathy Kushner (husband Fred) of New Jersey; Don Kemp (wife Laurie) of Florida and John Kemp (wife Jennifer Stiller), also of Florida; grandchildren Lindsey Brooks (husband Leon), Inverness, FL; Heather Kemp (husband Charlie Nguyen) of Virginia; Cassie Kemp of Inverness; Billy Kemp of Crystal River, FL; Sarah Kemp of Maine; Christine Kemp of Philadelphia, PA; Patricia Bodziak of Dunellen, NJ; Kimberly Kushner of Canada; Jonathan Kemp and Felicity Kemp, both of Homosassa and Ashley Kemp of Williston, FL; great grandchildren Joselyn Kemp and Janihya Brooks, both of Inverness, FL; Paisley Kemp and Olivia and Alex Lucas, all of Weeki Wachee, FL; Thomas Kemp and Beau, Levi and Isabella Matelskiy all of Williston, FL and Bill’s sister, Joan Sutowski of Middleburg, PA. Friends will be received on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026 from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM at Macrini-Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa. Entombment Service with Military Honors will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Fountains Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with the United States Coast Guard and the American Legion Post 155 Honor Guard rendering honors.
