

Zella Jane Sullivan Kolber was born in Denver, Colorado February 16,1931 to Herbert and Genevieve Sullivan. Zella was the oldest of three girls, Little Gen & Kathleen. She as raised in the Congregational Church and graduated from South High School in Denver.
Zella played the accordion and piano and was part of a trio that sang to the troops in World War 2 at Fort Logan.
Zella went on her first trip out of the country when she was 16 and her parents, she and Kathleen went on a train trip to Mexico. In those days Mexico City was small and you had to go a long way to see the Aztec pyramids, unlike now. This began her love of traveling. She and her husband, Donald enjoyed staying in timeshares in many different states but spent the most time in Las Vegas where they built a large group of friends that came back every year at the same time to visit. As much as they liked the timeshares their real love was cruising the high seas. They took over 150 cruises, including one around the world.
Zella had 2 children, Eric Jarl and then almost 12 years later, Cory James.
Zella was the first one in her family, to own a computer and complete a masters degree. She enjoyed teaching and worked primarily in special ed. She taught both in Florida and New York, on Long Island. Prior to teaching she was an underwriter for an insurance company.
Zella and Don retired to Homosassa, Florida after teaching for ten years in New York State.
Zella is survived by her husband of 72 years, Donald, son, Eric, grandsons Neal and Shaune Kolber and 5 grandchildren, Elliott, Mia, Isaac, Kiera and Naomi Kolber.
