Albert H. W. “Al” Chun, 93, of Honolulu, passed away on August 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born and raised in Honolulu, Albert attended Kaimukī High School before transferring to and graduating from McKinley High School. He later earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Hawaiʻi, where he also served as a Cadet Commander in the Air Force ROTC.
Albert enjoyed a long and successful career with Pan American World Airways. Starting with Pan Am shortly after college, he worked his way through the company and made history as the first Asian American appointed Director of Passenger Sales and Marketing for Pan Am in the Pacific Region. He continued to thrive in his career until his retirement in 1984.
While Albert was proud of his professional accomplishments, family was always at the heart of his life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He approached life with a strong work ethic and a positive outlook, always looking for the good even during difficult times. Those who knew him will remember his strength, optimism, and deep devotion to the people he loved.
Albert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane Chun.
He is survived by his children, Allison Chun; Alan “Scottie” Chun (Trisha); Stuart Chun (Rona); and Colette Ching (Brad); his grandchildren, Aaron Augustin, Stone Chun, Noah Chun, Nikolas Chun, Alex Chun, Austin Ching, and Jake Ching; and his sister, Regina Ting (Gary).
Albert lived a long and remarkable life, and his greatest legacy is the family he leaves behind. His love, strength, and positive spirit will live on through his children and grandchildren and in the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
