June 3, 1939-September 28,2026
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Lucille Sclemmer and his family in Austria, including his sister Greti, and her children Barbara, Martina, Michaela, Manfred and their children and grandchildren.
He was a chef for over 60 years. He did his chef apprenticeship in Austria and Switzerland before leaving for Hawaii. He worked at many well-known hotels throughout Oahu, including the Kahala Hilton, Royal Hawaiian, Hale Koa and the Moana Surfrider as an executive chef. He also opened his own successful restaurant named Alpine Village with the help of his wife Lucille, her sister Jolene, and wonderful staff.
He loved his German shepherds. He had a total of 5: 4 named Shatz and the last one named Bella. He truly enjoyed going on daily walks with them and meeting their other dog friends and their owners.
He also took pleasure in daily shopping for fresh fruit and vegetables at Whole Foods and Time Daily. He was an advocate for a healthy lifestyle. He knew about holistic and homeopathic treatments that made it difficult to receive western medication and care.
He savored everything about food, he cherished his German Shepherds, he loved going for walks and spending special time with Aunty Lucille hand in hand feeling the warm sunshine, sand between their toes and beautiful sound of the ocean and he adored working in his garden. He will miss his family in Austria especially his sister Greti who he loved and adored.
