Anna Puanani Andrade, affectionately known to many as "Aunty Pua" and “Aunty Green,” passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day, May 10, 2026, at the age of 87. Born in Iao Valley, Maui, on April 12, 1939, to John Mahihelelima, Sr. and Rose Hiona, she lived a life rooted in faith, family, and love.
A proud graduate of Baldwin High School, Puanani dedicated many years of service to her community through her work at the YMCA-Maunawili A+ program and Maunawili Elementary School Cafeteria. She was a long-time resident of Waimanalo and was filled with immense gratitude and joy when she moved into her home on Hawaiian Homelands over 54 years ago.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Puanani’s days were defined by service, scripture study, and her deep faith. She found peace in listening to music, reading her scriptures, and dedicating herself to the Gospel. Her ultimate joy, however, was her family. Whether she was sewing memorial keepsakes, making flower leis, watching Heartland on Netflix, or enjoying her mo‘opuna’s sports events, she was happiest when she was surrounded by her ‘ohana.
Puanani is reunited in eternity with her beloved husband, Lowell Kuhi Andrade; her daughter, Ginger Clemente (Kamuela); her granddaughter Chantel Cabral and her great-granddaughter Paris Clemente; along with her parents and many siblings who have passed before her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love in her daughters, Gardenia Cabral (Peter), Garland Bualuay (Billy), and Ginella Kapele (Naeole); her siblings, Wainani Fudala and John Mahi Jr.; as well as 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Her spirit will remain a guiding light for all who knew her and were blessed to have had her in their lives.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Friday, June 5, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Waimanalo Ward (41-972 Oluolu St. Waimanalo, HI). A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM, followed immediately by the memorial service from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. She will be laid to rest later that afternoon during a 1:00 PM graveside service at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.
