Mom was born in Waipio Valley on the Big Island on March 30,1927 where she lived with her siblings and her parents, Ting Loui and Mun Kwai. The family ran a store and bakery in the Valley until they moved to Honolulu in 1937. Annie attended Washington Intermediate School and graduated from McKinley High School in 1945.
She married dad, Yuen Sek “Wally” Chun, on June 14, 1947. Children, Douglas and Beverly Ann, were born before moving into their new house in Kaneohe town in 1952. Then came Darrell, Debralee and Susan.
Annie was a loving mother and fabulous homemaker until starting work as a temporary bookkeeper at the Napa Auto Parts Distribution Center in Waipahu which became her career through most of the 70’s.
Mom sewed clothes for all of us and even dresses for Barbie dolls. Annie was an opera fan, enjoyed craft making, orchid growing and cultivating exotic plants. She easily cooked for our family parties where a hundred aunties, uncles and cousins attended.
Grandchildren include Wesley, Kawika, Selina, Chris, Curt, Lahela and Luka. Great grandchildren are Kiara, Kylan, Kaleo, Hitomi, Arya and Aiden.
Annie passed on June 7, 2026 at Manoa Cottage Kaimuki. We love and miss her.
