Barbara Jill Naukana, née Stevenson, passed away on May 30, 2026. She was born on March 19, 1938, to Robert Louis Stevenson and Mary Madeline Stevenson.
Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend whose life was marked by grace, strength, and devotion to her family. Raised in Hawaiʻi, Barbara was a gifted and accomplished swimmer. As a student at Roosevelt High School in Honolulu, she was a member of the girls’ swimming team throughout grades 10, 11, and 12. The 1956 Roosevelt High School Round Up yearbook recognized Barbara as the girls’ swimming team’s outstanding swimmer, reflecting her talent, dedication, and competitive spirit in the water.
Following high school, Barbara continued her education at Boise Junior College during the 1956–1957 school year. She was listed in the 1957 Les Bois yearbook as Barbara Jill Stevenson of Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, studying Secretarial Science. Her time at Boise Junior College reflected her independence, determination, and willingness to pursue opportunities beyond home while carrying with her the strong foundation and athletic spirit she developed in Hawaiʻi.
On August 9, 1958, Barbara married George Lononuiakea Naukana Jr. in an intimate ceremony in Mānoa Valley. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, faith, and commitment. Barbara and George shared many years of marriage and raised four children, creating a legacy that will continue through the generations of family they loved so deeply.
Barbara will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, and the steady love she gave to those around her. She had a gentle presence, a generous heart, and a deep devotion to her family. Her life touched many, and her memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew and loved her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, George Lononuiakea Naukana Jr.; her daughter, Robin Naukana Cazinha; and her grandson, Brandon Cazinha.
She is survived by her children, DeeEtte Naukana and wife Debra Mojta, Robert Naukana, and Malia Naukana and significant other Elias Agcalon; her grandchildren, Blaine Cazinha, Brent Cazinha and wife Yuki Cazinha, Bailey Cazinha, Breanna Cazinha, Reece Naukana-Christensen, Heath Naukana-Christensen, and Emma Naukana-Christensen; and her great-granddaughters, Madison Cazinha and Allison Cazinha: and her brother John (Jack) Stevenson and wife Jane Stevenson. She is also survived by extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Barbara’s legacy lives on in the love of her family, the strength of her spirit, and the many lives she touched throughout her beautiful life.
