Charles (Cap) Perkins, 74 of Aina Hina, passed away with his partner by his side at home on Pāpai St after a fearless battle with cancer. Born September 20, 1951 at St. Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco, a city he would continue to embrace as an avid Giants, Warriors and 49er’s fan. He loved the sun, surfing and just about anything outdoors, especially his quiet little cabin on the Russian River. He loved music and he loved to read, usually 2 to 3 books at the same time, history was his favorite. Cap began his career withHawaiian Airlines as a pilot in 1999 after working for 13 years as a flight attendant and serving as a flight engineer on the DC 10. In 2007 he was recognized by his MEC with a Pilot of the Year award. He retired in 2016 and in 2023 he was the recipient of the ALPA Aviation Jumpseat Award in DC.
