
Chester Park Kar Lau was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on April 27, 1925 and passed away on May 31, 2020 at the age of 95, being one of 11 children, the son of Gum Sung Lau and Sun Chow Lau. He learned Photography while in high school and went on to be a photographer in the U.S. Army. Highlight included filming the Olympics in Helsinki, Finland. He was honorably discharged in 1952, re-enlisted, and again honorably discharged in 1955. After the Army, he was a cinematographer for the movies & TV, having been part of the crew for the early "Hawaii Five-O". He invented a battery tester and wrote a booklet for teenagers. He was adventurous, having traveled all over the world with the military. His marriage was very brief, and he had no children. He is predeceased by his parents and siblings Daisy Lee- Chin, Willie Lau, Violet Wong, Alice Fong, Charlie Lau, Abbie Fong, Jennie Wong, YukLing Lau and YukMee Lau. Sister Flora Young survives. Also close to him were nieces Allena Kaplan and Gerlene Kwan, Plus nephew Stanley Fong and 35 other nieces and nephews.
