He graduated from McKinley High School in 1970 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, serving his country for two years before transferring into the inactive reserves until he separated in 1976.
While in the reserves, Chris began his career as a Corrections Officer at the O’ahu Community Correctional Center (OCCC). He rose to the rank of Lieutenant before retiring after 41 years of service.
Outside of work, Chris supported the sports community, taking a particular interest in refereeing basketball games, whether it was for high school or community leagues for over 41 years.
Chris was an avid sportsman throughout his life. His favorite sport was softball, but he didn’t discriminate. Up until his passing, he continued to bowl and golf, but if not actively participating in it, he was certainly watching sports on TV.
By the way, in case you didn’t know, he was an avid Los Angeles Lakers and San Francisco 49ers fan.
Chris is preceded in death by his mother (Mary), father (Harry), and sisters (Linda, Germaine, and Angie).
He is survived by his sisters, Cynthia, Jocelyn (Frank), and Kimberly (Bobby), his son, Vincent (Jeannie), daughter, Selena, his grandchildren, Kyle and Kellen, and many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his wife, Vera, and her children, Tina (Nathan), Baron (Angie), Lisa (Wade), and her grandchildren, Nigel, Bronson, Jaslyn, Kingston, and Avery.
