

Born on January 24, 1947, in Honolulu, Kaipo was the beloved son of William HK and Elizabeth K Chang of Hana, Maui. He was a proud graduate of Kamehameha Schools and went on to serve his country with honor and dedication after enlisting in the United States Air Force. His distinguished military career spanned 29 years, during which he served as a Weapons Specialist with the 154th Wing of the Hawaii Air National Guard. His service reflected his deep commitment to duty, discipline, and aloha for his community and country.
Kaipo will be remembered for his strength, humility, and unwavering love for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Frances, and his daughters: Franzelle “Ipo” (Ross) Barcarse, Cheryl, Claynette “Sui Lan” (Isaac) Funai, Chereen (Carl) Miyamoto, and hanai daughter, Regina Ramos. He is also survived by his brother, William Chang, as well as 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Kaipo’s legacy of service, love, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
