Darrell was a great Rotarian--- joined in 1998.  He shared his time, talent and treasure to make a difference in our community.  He was involved in hands-on community service and supported our service projects personally and financially.  He will be missed by his OHANA at the Rotary Club of Honolulu Sunset. To the Family and Staff of the late Dr. Allison,

It was with great sorrow, that we heard of Dr. Allison's passing.  We recognize  that his health had not been good for a period of time.  We truly appreciated his great capacity for kindness and generosity to our animals.

We have been clients of Blue Cross for over 30 years.  He was the mainstay through the trials and tribulations that our dogs have encountered.  He may not have had the bedside manner of James Herriott, DVM, but he certainly had the heart.

We trusted Dr. Allison to provide the best care for the dogs we adopted, loved, watched grow and enjoyed living full and healthy lives; and he was with us when it came time to allow them to pass peacefully to the next life.

He was our veterinarian for our first dog, Cody.  She was the first of many black poi dogs that we adopted.  By the time we got to our 6th dog, we got a tan colored dog. We were so surprised when he commented on the fact that this was our first non-black dog.  With all the animals he provides care for, he remembered!

We remember when our dog, Maui, got out of the yard and was hit by a car.  We were in Idaho for our daughter's soccer tournament.  Our dog sitter alerted us that something was wrong and brought Maui to Blue Cross.  She had internal bleeding.  Dr. Allison and his staff stabilized her, removed her spleen and took care of her at the clinic.  We were unable to leave Idaho because of the tournament.  I called every day to check on her progress and the staff was patient with my anxious and many calls.  I called on a Sunday, intending to leave a message.  To my surprise, Dr. Allison answer the phone himself.  After I expressed my gratitude for his expert care and expertise, he gruffly told me that my calling wasn't helping Maui and that she was being taken care of.  I have to chuckle at that memory...he was at his best when dealing with his patients -- the owners were just baggage he had to tolerate.

He was a wonderful veterinarian that had a price structure that made it easier to have more than 1 dog at a time.  I appreciated his efforts to keep his prices low, but totally understood that he had to raise his fees to provide for his staff.

He will not be forgotten for the priceless moments he has allowed me to have with my dogs, for his quiet strength, and for the warmth and affection that he showed his animal clients.  There is a place for him in heaven, surrounded by the countless pets that he has helped cross the Rainbow Bridge.  He will be missed and thought of with deep affection,

Our sincerest condolences to the family of Dr. Allison. We were saddened to learn of his passing.  We are very grateful to him for being a very caring vet to all our pets.  Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and may your perpetual light shine upon him.  May Dr. Allison's soul rest in peace.

dr allison and his staff took wonderful compassionate care of my cats. he called me in the middle of the night to let me know that my cat had finally passed away after he provided a type of hospice care for her. his kindness was an inspiration that i will remember and will try to emulate.

Jean, I am saddened to hear about Darrell's passing.  He was a good man and I enjoyed working with him and getting to know him and you.  I am still in Tennessee taking care of my Dad's estate so I will not be able to make the service but will be thinking of you.  God bless!  Cynthia Hosking
