David M. Peters, 89, of Kailua, Oahu, former Trustee of Queen Liliuokalani Trust and Executive Assistant to U.S. Senator Daniel K. Inouye, and retired U.S. Army Colonel, died in Kailua. He was born in Honolulu, raised in Wailuku.
He is survived by wife Mary Melekahana; daughters Lauren Moriarty, Diane Peters-Nguyen, and Nani Burgess; sons Keven, Wade and Shane Kapaona; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, Dec 14, at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Cathedral; funeral service at 4 p.m. Burial at a later date at National Cemetery of the Pacific.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to the David M. Peters Scholarship Fund at Chaminade University, Queen Liliuokalani Children’s Center, Ke Alii Pauahi Foundation or Prince Kuhio Hawaiian Civic Club.
