Diana L. Gonsalves Wendt of Kaneohe was born in Wahiawa on November 1, 1951 to Alfred and Leonora Timario Gonsalves. She passed peacefully in her sleep at home on August 27, 2026 after a long illness. She grew up in Kaneohe and graduated from Castle High School in 1969, and got BA’s from Chaminade and UH. She went to the mainland to pursue her Master’s in Speech Language Pathology and stayed to start her career. She met and married her husband Dave in New Mexico in 1983. After many years in various cities and various positions, she returned to Oahu in 1996 and worked for The Queen’s Medical Center as an in-patient Speech Language Pathologist until her retirement in 2017. She was a lifelong learner and was active in her profession, attending seminars and conferences to stay current with best practices. She and Dave were active in their church, New Hope Oahu, where they served in a number of ministries. Diana sang on the vocal team and danced with the halalu until she was too ill to participate.
She was predeceased by her father, mother, sisters Gloria, Sylvia and Linda (Roz) and a brother, Father Norman Gonsalves. She is survived by her husband Dave, nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and beloved pets.
Celebration of life will be at Borthwick Mortuary, 1330 Maunakea Street , Honolulu, Hawaii 96817, on October 8, 2026 with visitation at 10:30 and service at 11:30. Private inurnment will occur at a later date.
