Dominic Kainalu Heffernan

He attended Hauula Elementary School and Kahuku High School where he graduated with the class of 2012.

Dominic was born with polycystic kidney disease, which eventually led to kidney failure. He underwent a kidney transplant receiving a healthy kidney from his mom, Denice. Despite his medical challenges, he continued to push forward eventually starting his own clothing line, “Native Rugratz aka Native Rugrats.” His love of art and drawing at a young age are visible in his designs. Dominic enjoyed going to the beach, fishing, and hanging out with family and friends.

He is survived by his mother, Denice Heffernan-Kojima; father, Frank Kojima; brothers, Duke and Kazu; companion, Kira Arruda; hanai-daughters, Irie and Stella; maternal grandparents, Naomi and Thomas Heffernan (predeceased); paternal grandparents, Jennie and Kazuo Kojima (both predeceased); grandmother, Joyce Cromer; and many Aunties, Uncles, Cousins and Friends.

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Hauula Congregational Church, 54-311 Hauula Homestead Road, Hauula, HI. 96717 (across of Hauula Beach Park Pavilion) from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Service will be at 12:00 (noon). Burial will be at the Hauula Cemetery following the service.
