

Dr. Carol Anne Levy Dickson, aged 82 passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 23, 2020. She was born in Greenville, South Carolina on March 10, 1938 and was raised and educated in Greensboro, North Carolina where she attended and graduated from Greensboro High School and The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Dr. Dickson was a retired Professor at The University of Hawaii (Manoa) where she taught many wonderful students after joining the faculty in 1982. She was a great proponent of continuing education and attained an additional Bachelor of Science from FontBonne College (St. Louis) and her Master of Arts from Wake Forest University (1973). She also went on to earn her Doctorate Degree from the Ohio State University (1979) where she likewise made many friends during her time in Columbus.
She was a Member of the American Collegiate Retailing Association, The American Home Economics Association, Costume Society of America, The International Federation of Home Economics, the Fashion Group of Honolulu and the Association of College Professors Textiles and Clothing. She was a frequent lecturer at numerous and diverse events in all parts of the world and her lecturing travels took her to almost every continent on the planet. In addition to her intelligence she also had a great sense of humor and she was a voracious advocate for women’s rights and equality during her lifetime.
She was predeceased by her parents Max Sam Levy, Jr. and Marjorie Moberly Levy Dickson.
She is survived by her beloved brother, David Max Dickson and two nephews, David Dickson, Jr. and Glenn Dickson, all of North Carolina. She will also be deeply missed by her great nephews and great niece and her three very special cousins, the Wurzburgs from Memphis (TN). She will also be missed by her loyal and beloved friends in Honolulu and in other places in the Mainland and that she met on her travels around the world. The family wishes to express very special thanks and acknowledgment to Pam Ferguson Brey for her friendship and assistance during this very difficult time.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Mortuary and it is asked that there be no flowers or other acknowledgments at this time. A private service will be held at a later date when it is appropriately safe to gather her friends and family together to celebrate her special life.
