

Age 61 of Kaneohe, she passed away peacefully on October 16th in Kailua. She was born in Chonbuk, Korea to Dae-Soo and Ye-Soon Kim. She was an Associate Professor at the University of Hawaii with the Center for Disability studies and directed and completed several projects by the U.S. DOE. She helped many students with disabilities and was loved by her colleagues who worked with her.
Kim was a watercolor artist and an active member of the Hawaii Watercolor Society. She also authored a book about her experiences with cancer that was published in Korea and will soon be translated into English.
A loving wife and mother she was an inspiration for all who knew her because of her courage and strength to continue her life in spite of the health issues she faced.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Kenneth and Hana; siblings, Weol-Sun Kim, Yong-Il Kim, Yong-Bae Kim, Goan-Sun Kim, Mi-Sun Kim; mother-in-law, Irene Boschuetz; and brother-in-law, Gary Rupnow.
Service will be held October 24th at St. Mark church in Kaneohe, visitation at 3:30pm and service at 4:30pm.
Burial will be on October 27th at 3:00pm at Greenhaven Memorial Park.
Aloha attire, no flowers.
