

He was born on EASY Street in Nuuanu on February 28, 1949, Earl was often described as "solid like a rock, free spoken a one of a kind,” In his younger years he was often called “Savage “by his family.
Earl is survived by wife, Loraine Armstrong, son, Benjamin “Kaleo” Armstrong & daughter Annita Armstrong. Stepdaughters Zena Mitchell & Annette Ferris. Grandchildren Kimmarie, Josephine Armstrong, Alana, Douglas & Ruttisha Mitchell, Evonne Chiapetta and two great grandchildren. Siblings Charles "Butch" Armstrong, Lydia Kaeka, Lovena Hanada, Concetta Fialkowski, Kavin Denning, Deemer Denning & Yale Alama, Uncle Earl Kalani Simerson & many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceded in death by his father, Charles, stepfather Herbert Denning; mother, Anita Denning; and sister, Harriet Buen.
Earl attended Mae Mae Elementary, Kawananakoa Intermediate and Roosevelt High School.
Earl was the proud owner of EKA Heavy Equipment Rentals also worked as a heavy equipment operator and diesel mechanic.
In his younger years, Earl was an avid motocross racer and surfer, embracing the adventurous spirit of Hawaii.
A service to honor Earl's life will be held on Sunday, September 07, 2025, at Borthwick Mortuary Maunakea Chapel from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Burial will follow at Hawaiian Memorial Park at 2 PM. A celebration of his life to follow at his residence 92-1220 Pikaiolena Street, Nanakuli at 4pm.
