Elba McDonald, 82, passed on September 19, 2026. Born October 3, 1943, Elba’s life was marked by devotion to family, steady purpose, and the quiet strength of a woman who built a home across oceans and generations.
At the age of 23, Elba moved to Hawaii from Chile, beginning a new chapter far from her birthplace while keeping close the ties that mattered most. Shortly after arriving, she met her husband, Roger, and together they shared a life rooted in commitment and care.
Elba dedicated many years of service to Kuakini Hospital, where she worked as a GI lab technician before retiring in the 1990s. Her work reflected the same dependable spirit she brought to all she did—showing up, doing the job well, and supporting others through skill and constancy.
Elba is survived by her husband, Roger; her daughter, Lisa; several fur babies; and a large family in Chile.
A funeral service will be held at Ballard Family Moanalua Mortuary-Honolulu, 1150 Kikowaena St, Honolulu, HI 96819 on October 21, 2026 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery & Funeral Services, 45-425 Kamehameha Hwy, Kaneohe, HI 96744 on October 21, 2026 at 2:00 pm.
