A viewing for Elizabeth will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Borthwick Mortuary.
Elizabeth is survived by her fiancé, David Jenkins; her grown children Ash, Geneva, and Jen and their partners and children; siblings, Ed (Joyce), Richard (Teri), Dennis (Connie), Sandra, Linda (Dave), Brian, and Chris as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by her partner, Jim Rae, and her in-law, Ken.
Elizabeth was very proud of her successful business career. She worked for the world-famous Reichman Bros, owners of the Olympia & York Company.
She was appointed as the director of leasing for Commerce Place, a new 30 storey high rise office tower being built in Edmonton.
Elizabeth was the first woman in that job. Prior to her, the position of director of leasing was always held by a man.
In her early days she worked for Wardair, a Canadian airline that focused on flying frozen Canadians to warm places like Hawaii.
Later, she worked for large real estate companies in Toronto.
As an example of her business skills, she did the marketing and advertising for Korite, the ammolite mining company based in Southern Alberta.
The jewelry produced was sold on cruise ships & jewelry stores around the world. I saw her signs & displays (in several different languages) on ships & in shops everywhere.
Elizabeth was proud to be the Director of Public Relations for my company, Cruise Vacations Inc., Alberta’s largest cruise travel agency.
CRUISES
Elizabeth loved cruising. She was on many cruises, including two 106-day World Cruises: one on the Queen Mary 2 and one on Seabourn.
Elizabeth was particularly fascinated by the Panama Canal. She scampered around the ship, taking photos from every angle. Perhaps the technical/logistics/engineering talents of her three older brothers rubbed off on her.
CHILDREN
Elizabeth always said the greatest moments of her life were giving birth to & raising her three children: Jennifer, Geneva & Ashley.
She was very proud that, as a single mother she worked very hard & was able to feed, clothe & house them all by herself.
She was also very proud of the high degree of education her children were able to achieve, thanks to her.
Dr. Jennifer, the oldest child, has a doctorate & is a professor at Melbourne University in Australia.
ROYAL MAYFAIR Private Golf Club, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Elizabeth was an excellent golfer. She was a member of the Royal Mayfair women’s team that competed against all the other female teams in the area.
Elizabeth was Women’s President at the club — & had the great honor of serving on the board of directors of Alberta Golf.
