Francis Moses Kuakini was born on September 13, 1926. Throughout his lifetime, he made lots of memories and will forever be remembered by those who knew him. Francis served in the military where he was able to travel the world and see greater things life had to offer. By the time he retired from the military, he became a father. Francis later worked for The Bus Company where many people know him from as uncle Red. He was a crazy driver that always gave his aloha to his passengers. He would sing to his Hawaiian music as he drove around the island with a big smile on his face. Red had a passion for driving the bus and it made him feel like he was on top of the world. Aside from his driving, Red also loved to go holoholo on the boat. He would go fishing, crabbing, or just take a cruise in the ocean while drinking a beer. His favorite spot to go was on the Westside, from Nanakuli all the way to Yokohamas. He would spend all day in the ocean until it was dark. Red would always share his knowledge with those who asked and encouraged them to try different techniques. We all knew his second favorite hobby was drinking some beers. Even though he was old, that didn’t stop him from having a good time. He was always cracking jokes and singing the wrong words to his music. He was always happy and laughing but when you piss him off, he blew up like a fire cracker. Francis lived a long life and made many memories. Each of us holds a special memory that we have of him that we will never forget. He touched many people’s hearts with his love. He was one tough cookie that never stopped fighting. He will never be forgotten and will forever be missed from those near and far. He was a man of many words and many smiles. Aloha Francis Moses “Red” Kuakini, until we meet again. It’s not goodbye but “I’ll see you later!”.
