I met JJ twice.  Once when I visited Leila a few months before their wedding, and once when they came through Indy on their honeymoon.  Three words I would choose to describe JJ are fun-loving, confident, and friendly.  I am so sorry for the loss of JJ on earth, especially to the Jackson & Yamaoka families, but rejoice with them that he is truly home and living more fully than he ever did on earth (and that is saying a lot because JJ lived life all-out!).  May the God of all comfort be your chedvah (joy) and shalom (peace).

So glad JJ go to be a part of our family.  He is truly missed.

Although we did not know JJ well, we are very glad we were able to meet him and we really knew all we needed to know about him - he loved Leila and made her very happy. Prayers for God's peace and healing for Leila and JJ's family.

We had heard all about what a fine person JJ was through the Yamaokas. We only met him once at the Sewell gathering while they were still on their honeymoon. Our meeting him proved that he indeed  was a talented and committed follower of Jesus Christ as we heard and knowing Leila all her life, she would not have married anyone with less character. The precious memories during a short marriage will be remembered for your entire life. We love you Leila.

Leila, my heart breaks for you as you adjust to life without your beloved JJ. You waited so long to find your soulmate. While you know he is in God's loving arms, it is so intensely painful to be the one left to cope on earth.  One day we will be reunited in Heaven. Until then, may you feel God's love surround you and comfort you. Remember that love never dies. You will carry JJ in your heart always. God bless you sweet friend.

Leila, we loved JJ for so many reasons, most of all was how much he loved you and made you so very happy! The love you share is a special kind and will live on forever. You are always in my thoughts and whenever I jump in the ocean to surf or dive for shells, I say my prayers for you and to JJ❤

While I'm saddened at the untimely loss of a wonderful, loving person, I am more saddened for anyone who didn't have the pleasure of knowing JJ - that is the only true loss. I am lucky to have witnessed his love for my Aunty Leila & to have watched how his love changed their home in Kailua. He touched many hearts & changed many people's lives. I only met JJ once at a family reunion in Indiana. He seemed like a sweet & fun guy, but most importantly he made my cousin Leila very happy. I know one day they will be reunited in heaven.

Leila, I'm so thankful that You and JJ shared such love and such happy times. He set a mountain alight for you two times! He lived life to the fullest and his dream of marrying you came true. Also along with his love for you, you brought him back to his love for God. JJ and his love for God, life and you will not be forgotten.  I love you
