She was surrounded by family and friends in her final moments. Helga was born in Luckenwalde, Germany. For the last 64 years she resided in Hawaii. Helga was a wait-help at the Captain's Galley in the Moana Surfrider Hotel and at the Ala Moana Hotel until retirement. She is survived by her daughters, Elisabeth (Kenny) Lum, Rebecca (Rick) Kaneapua-Alexander, son, Arthur Cabanilla, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at the Borthwick Mortuary, Mauka Chapel. Visitation at 9:30am. Services at 11:00am-1:30pm. Inurnment at 2:00pm at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
