

Mr. Jim Chin Lum, Buddhist Name: Jing Quan)
announces his peaceful passing on May 5, 2026, at the age of 92.
Born on September 17, 1933, in Zhongshan, Guangdong, China, Mr. Lum was a man of wisdom, integrity, and compassion. He graduated from Guangdong University of Finance and devoted many years of his life to financial administration and public service in Hainan. Later, he settled in Hawai‘i, where he became a respected member of the Chinese community and a devoted Buddhist practitioner.
In 1980, Mr. Lum became one of the founders of Hop Hing Market in Honolulu. Through hard work, perseverance, and dedication, he helped build a trusted business that served the local community for many years. He was admired not only for his business vision, but also for his generosity, humility, and strong sense of responsibility toward family and community.
Throughout his life, Mr. Lum generously supported Buddhist temples and charitable causes. He formerly served as Chairman of the Chinese Buddhist Association Hawaii Hsu Yun Temple and was widely respected for his kindness and lifelong commitment to helping others.
He is survived by his loving family, relatives, and dear friends, who will forever cherish his teachings, love, and legacy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at
Borthwick Mortuary,
followed by burial services at
Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery.
