

JOSEPH “UNCLE JOE” SANTIAGO, 97, of Honolulu, passed away December 2, 2011 at his residence. Born in Pahala, Hawaii, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Department of Defense, Public Works Center at Pearl Harbor, and a U.S. Navy Seabee who served during the Korean War.
He is survived by wife, Violet; sons, Henry (Gloria) Santiago and Jovi (Joy) Santiago; daughters, Lehua (Richard) Carpentier and Julie (Randy) Oba; grandsons, Joseph (Shar) Carpentier and Matthew Carpentier; 1 great-grandchild, Makana Carpentier; sisters, Catherine Young and Florence Buyuan; step-granddaughters, Dawn Keller and Taniya Ledoux; step-great-grandchild, Hayden Keller.
Visitation 5:00-9:00 p.m. Friday, December 16, 2011, at the Hawaiian Pentecostal Full Gospel Assembly, 1159 Gulick Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii 96819. Wake service will be at 7:00 p.m. A second visitation from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. will be held again at the church on Saturday, December 17, 2011. Funeral service will be at 12:30 p.m. with burial to follow at 3 p.m. at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. Family requests that flowers be omitted and that casual attire be worn.
Additional parking for the services will be available at Kalihi Waena Elementary School on Friday from 4:30-9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
