
Josephine of 85, rose to glory with her family at her bedside on May 21, 2021 at her home in Waimanalo. She was born in Honolulu and retired as a Special Education Teacher Aide at Kailua High School. She is more fondly remembered as an awesome Campus Walker at KHS. Kailua was her home for more than 30 years where she raised her children Kuuipo, Shannon, and Kaui. Fondly known as Aunty Jojo, she lived her life as a loving and faithful evangelist for the Kingdom of God. She was a member of Hope Chapel Kaneohe Bay, Hope Chapel Honolulu, and the Kupuna Church in Waimanalo.
She is survived by her daughter Leslie Gael Ku`uipo Hill, sons Shannon Zay Kamalei (Devery) and Shawn Farley Kauiolani (Hoku); 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; sisters Kawe DeFreitas, Kalau Nuuhiwa, Gaelic (Dave) Steele, and Virginia Sabado; brother-in-law Kahale Kekauoha. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Josephine is predeceased by her parents Joseph Martin and Ethel K. Lopes; brother James; as well as sisters Wanda DeLima, Gladys DeCosta, Germaine Keliikoa, and Brenda Kekauoha.
Aunty Jojo’s Celebration of Life will be held from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm on Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Borthwick Mortuary, Maunakea Chapel. Service will begin at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at 1:00 pm at Valley of the Temples Memorial Park. Casual attire. Flowers welcome.
