
Ju Young Woo, a man of many titles; mechanical engineering by trade - son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend - passed away on June 3, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and heartfelt laughter.
He hailed from Aumi, Pago Pago, American Samoa, and graduated from Fagaitua High School, and worked at the family machine shop where he developed his passion for welding, metal work, engines and machinery work.
Ju Young was a man with a heart of gold, blending his Samoan and Korean heritage to create a unique and inspiring personality. He was a remarkable human being who held a deep love for his family and friends.
Ju Young was a true inspiration, always ready to tackle any task that came his way, no matter how challenging it seemed. His family and friends will miss his encouraging words, love, and laughter, but his spirit will live on through them.
Ju Young's family was everything to him, and he was blessed with a loving mother, Sita Salanoa, and a father, Young Kyu Woo, who has passed away.
He has five sisters- Evelina Murray, Rosemary Taliulu, Jacinta Tagovailoa, Juliette Foster, and Julia Leapai - and four brothers - Tommy Woo, Joseph Woo, Soli Park, Benjamin Park, and Mathew Park - who will cherish the memories they shared with him.
Ju Young was a proud father to five children - Frantaysha Woo, Franciscan Young Woo, Ju Young Tommy Woo, Japheth Woo, and Samson Woo - who will miss him dearly.
He was also blessed with six grandchildren - Jeremiah Aiden Woo, Leia’Monae Leitumalo PA Woo-Haulcy, Kyler James Fa’anoa Woo, Koa Jacob Woo, Jordan Young Salanoa Woo-Arrington, and YoungKyu Ali’iotama Ali’ipule-Woo - who will always hold him close to their hearts.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Borthwick Mortuary in the Maunakea Chapel, Honolulu, Hawaii.
The family viewing and public service will take place from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. The family welcomes all to attend, dressed in casual aloha attire, and flowers are appreciated.
