Kathy enjoyed a long, successful career in the mortgage industry, but her greatest joy was her family and friends. She was an extraordinary mother to Brandon and Kelsey—always cheering them on, supporting their dreams, and loving them unconditionally.
An ultimate planner, Kathy always looked forward to coordinating family events, from holiday dinners at Halloween and Christmas to the annual Okinawan Festival. In her spare time, she loved creating a variety of beautiful crafts and visiting local craft fairs. She deeply appreciated Japanese and Hawaiian culture, frequently visiting the Shinto Shrine to collect good luck charms and fortune papers. Kathy also loved traveling—especially to Las Vegas—and galavanting around the island in search of her favorite sweets. She would regularly drive out to Ani’s Bakery for apricot bread, Waialua Bakery for snowy puffs, and Nisshodo Candy Store for fresh mochi. Kathy’s steady, generous presence and profound love will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and colleagues.
She is survived by her children, Brandon and Kelsey; her mother, Joyce; her sisters, Tammy and Sharon (Tim); her sister-in-law, Lori; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Tomita, and her brother, Eric Tomita.
A gathering will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Borthwick Mortuary in the Maunakea Chapel. Services are in the care of Borthwick Mortuary, Honolulu.
