Forever in our Hearts
Her heart was full, and it overflowed onto all who knew her. To miss someone so much means they were extremely special, and we were blessed to have her in our lives. She is now in our hearts forever and will always be missed. We know she’s happy now and isn’t in pain. It hurts to be apart, but we will see her again. We are comforted to know she is in heaven, sharing her gifts and smiling down on all of us.
Lenelie Jose Dacanay, a retired teacher and librarian, a devoted wife and caring mother, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, formerly of Villaverde, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines, has joined our Creator on her birthday, August 31, 2021 at Pali Momi Hospital in Aiea, Hawaii. She is predeceased by her parents Faustino Sensano Jose and Clara Vergara Jose.
Mommy Lily, as everybody calls her, is an altruistic, selfless wife, mother, grandmother, and sister to her nine siblings, who always had a smile even when times were tough. She had a quiet strength. She never complained and always looked for a better future for her family. She always sacrificed her needs and shared what little she had to help and care for others. Her unconditional love, kindness, and generosity best defined her personality and life-long legacy.
She graduated from Saint Mary’s University at Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya, and played softball during her college years. She taught and retired from Bintawan National High School. She loved reading pocketbooks, cooking, gardening, raising farm animals, music, and a little laughter over a glass of wine or cup of coffee with family and loved ones. She’s best remembered with her rendition of the Patti Page songs, Tennessee Waltz and Changing Partners, whom she regularly duets with her older sister Erlinda.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jose Emperador Dacanay, and children:
Julius Jose Dacanay and Eva Dacanay
Christopher Jose Dacanay
