Leon Walter Schumaker, 74, of Honolulu, a retired University of Hawaii Intercollegiate Athletics director of student affairs, died on March 15, 2011 at Straub Hospital. He was born in Los Angeles, California. He is survived by his wife, Frances; daughters, Mikihala (Darryl) Defiesta, Noelle (Leroy) Bounos and Barbie (James) McCumber; brothers, Richard and Robert; sister, Maureen Hammond; 7 grandchildren, Nicole Cheri, Leina, Kaysha, Kayla, Nainoa and Kaili and 4 great grandchildren, Keola, Rayden, Kui and Zayne. Visitation 9:00 a.m. Thursday, March 24th at Borthwick Mortuary Makai Chapel; memorial service 10:00 a.m.. Aloha attire. Arrangements under the direction of Borthwick Mortuary, Honolulu, HI.
